Can you help me with translating a legal public document (birth certificate, marriage license, death notice, etc) for use in a foreign country?
The original or certified copy of the government document that will be used in the foreign country should carry an Apostille certificate. Even with the Apostille certificate attached, the receiving country may require the document to be translated. Apostille certificates are produced by the Secretary of State of the State that issued the document. Apostille certificates are only recognized by countries that subscribed the the Hague Convention of 1961. To find a list of signing countries of the convention, click here. For a list of each state's Secretary of State, click here.

IMPORTANT:It is ultimately the client's own responsibility to confirm all that is required by the foreign country where they intend on using their translation. Regulations on what is required to legally accept a translated document is always subject to change and only meant to serve as a guide.

How about the authentication of other documents for use overseas? Documents in this category include but are not limited to: company bylaws, powers of attorney, trademarks, diplomas, transcripts, distributorship agreements, articles of incorporation, good standing certificates, home studies, letters of reference etc. should check with the U.S. Department of State's page Office of Authentications.

How long does it take to have a certificate translated?
Standard Services: Finished notarized documents are generally ready to be mailed or for pick up 48 - 72 hours (unless stated otherwise) after payment is received.

Rush Services: If documents are needed sooner, we may be able to assist you. A rush services fee of $20 - $25.00 will apply as will any cost for overnighting the documents unless they will be picked up (Phoenix, AZ area only). Rush services are defined by anything needed for completion within 4 - 24 hours.

What should I expect from the finished document?

  1. Documents are returned on 8 1/2" x 14" legal paper with the Accurate Translator LLC company letterhead. Right below the letterhead is located the balanced, clearly understandable and linguistically correct translation resembling the style and format of the original corresponding source page. The bottom 2 1/2" of the translation page is an area reserved for notarization of the company representative's oath regarding the document's completeness, accuracy, and truthfulness.
  2. A company stamped and signed copy of the source document used in the translation.

I studied outside the U.S., what is the process for having my credentials evaluated?

Unlike many other countries, the U.S. has a very decentralized system of education. Degree, diploma, and credit recognition are not performed or regulated by the federal government. Within the US, no government agency monitors the evaluation of educational credentials completed outside the country.

Depending of what credentials are being transferred will greatly influence what is actually required. This is especially true for anyone apply for credential transfers in one of the over 50 professional fields that are licensed in all of the 50 states and territories. Not all of these professions have specialized credential evaluation services, nor do all of them have procedures for recognizing non-U.S. qualifications, however many do and the boards monitoring those fields may have established standards to follow. Since this is a confusing tedious process whose rules seem to change depending on who is receiving the credentials, it is best to employ a service dedicated to evaluations of educational credits. One such quality company is:

Career Consulting International:

  • Foreign Credential Evaluations
  • Immigration Visas (H1-B, I-140, TN)

  • Difficult Immigration Cases (3 Year Degree, RFE's, Denials, Change of Major etc.)

  • Expert Opinion Letters

  • Employment

  • University Admissions

  • Rush Services Available

  • Original Documents Not Required

  • Low Price Guarantee

You are advised to check with the agency, university or institution to which you intend to submit the report to make certain that the report will be recognized. Be certain to inform the receiving organization that CCI is a member of, through its director: AEA (The American Evaluation Association www.eval.org), NAFSA (Association of International Educators www.NAFSA.org) and EAIE (European Association for International Education www.EAIE.org).

Is this considered a Certified Translation?
A certified translation consists of a document signed by an officer of the translation agency and notarized by a Notary Public, attesting that the translation company believes the translation to be accurate and complete. This part of the document is called a "Translation Certification."

We guarantee that any and all documents issued by us will be accepted by any U.S. government requesting agency. All documents are notarized translations or in other words, perfectly legal translations for the U.S. government and in most instances, for other governments as well providing it has been Apostilled.

Additional Copies
All translations are kept on file for a minimum of 3 years. Additional notarized certificate copies are available at $10.00 per notarized page which includes the notarization, printing and postage via first-class mail.

If you want a PDF (unsigned - non-notarized) version of your translation, we will provide that free of charge anytime after the original translation services have been provided.
